29 September 2023
MONROVIA - More than 1,100 students have celebrated their graduation from the Monrovia Vocational Training Centre (MVTC), having studied a variety of fields, including electrical engineering, carpentry, refrigeration and air-conditioning, information communication and technology, welding and metal fabrication. The MVTC is one of nine schools, spread across six counties, supported by the European Union-funded UNIDO Youth Rising Liberia project.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Anna Brzozowska, the new Governance Team Leader of the EU Delegation to Liberia. She delivered an inspiring keynote speech and awarded the diplomas to this enthusiastic group of young people.
Liberian youth generally lack employable skills and are ill-equipped to access new economic opportunities. The government of Liberia recognizes that the transition towards inclusive development will not happen unless human capabilities are enhanced, and the quality of education and vocational training are improved to match the demands of the labour market.
