The 46th UNIDO Industrial Development Board (IDB) presents a GMIS Informative Session

When: 27 November 2018, 2:00-3:30 PM (CET)

Where: Vienna International Centre, C-building, Conference Room 4

Background

The Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit (GMIS) was established in 2015 as a platform to build bridges between manufacturers, governments and NGOs, technologists, and investors in harnessing the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR)’s transformation of manufacturing to the regeneration of the global economy. An initiative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Arab Emirates, GMIS offers a unique platform to discuss concrete opportunities and challenges and global actions pertaining to 4IR, as well as to strive for the development of joint initiatives that contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Event

Please join us for the Informative Session on the Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit, on 27 November in Vienna, Austria, which is jointly organized by UNIDO, the GMIS Organising Commitee and the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to UNIDO. The event will be held on the sidelines of the forty-sixth session of the UNIDO Industrial Development Board, presenting an excellent occasion to introduce the GMIS initiative and associated activities to Member States and solicit their views and strategies on how to harness the new industrial revolution.

Given the proposed structure of the session, it will be a valuable opportunity for Member States to present their needs in terms of policy advice, analysis and technical assistance. Also, the GMIS event, supported by the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation, will present Russia as the official host of GMIS2019 and will also showcase the willingness of the initiative to become a rotating annual Summit for future editions.

The event will be livestreamed onto this page. Please engage with us on Twitter via @UNIDO and @GMISummit using #GMISIDB during the session.

Also, please feel free to submit any questions you may have about the GMIS initiative to UNIDO’s GMIS team in advance.
