FIFTH ISID FORUM
Dakar, Senegal, 14-15 November 2016
Promoting the Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) model and industrial investment in Africa
The Fifth ISID Forum, co-organized by UNIDO and the Government of Senegal, took place in Dakar, Senegal, on 14 and 15 November 2016. The Forum presented the experience and results of the PCP implementation in the pilot countries − Ethiopia, Peru and Senegal − to sensitize African countries to the principles of inclusive and sustainable industrial development. The Forum also discussed some of the challenges impeding Africa’s industrialization and highlighted the importance of regional integration. In this regard, the Forum presented an Action Plan for the replication and dissemination of the PCP model across West Africa.
Around 400 participants attended the forum, including high-level representatives from African governments, international and regional financial institutions, technical and financial development partners, and the private sector.
FORMAT
The first day consisted of a high-level discussion focusing on issues related to regional inclusive and sustainable industrial development, building on experiences gained from the implementation of pilot PCPs. It also presented an action plan for the replication of the PCP model across West Africa.
The second day provided a platform for business-to-business (B2B) and business- to-government (B2G) meetings and featured an exhibition of industrial products. A visit to the integrated industrial park of Diamniadio, one of the flagship industrial projects of the Government of Senegal, was also organized.
