Düsseldorf, Nov 29 – UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller opened the presentation ceremony of the 17th German Sustainability Award in front of an audience of 1000 guests from business, culture, sports, media and civil society. In his welcoming address he laid out UNIDO‘s own priorities, particularly new initiatives to achieve a world without hunger. Müller then later presented the International German Sustainability Award, which he had first attended at its premiere in 2018 – an award for global partnerships, established in the spirit of true cooperation with mutual benefit, between German companies and partners in the Global South.

The German Sustainability Award 2025 also provided the perfect stage to showcase the UNIDO Solutions Platform and its innovative approaches to sustainable economic and industrial development. Over two days, UNIDO presented practical solutions and best practices addressing global challenges while promoting sustainable industrialization. The event was a space where commitment to sustainability takes center stage, whether through entrepreneurial achievements or innovative contributions from the business sector and academia.
